Chunyu Yang

Ph.D. Student

I majored in geology during my undergraduate studies and, by coincidence, entered the field of marine geology for my master’s program, focusing on paleoclimate reconstruction using foraminifera proxies. After several years reconstructing deep ocean temperature changes during the middle Miocene, I gradually began to reevaluate paleoclimate and developed many questions. For reasons that are difficult to explain briefly, I transitioned from proxy to modeling, driven by a strong desire to restart and understand paleoclimate changes from a modeling perspective. I hope that one day I can integrate these two approaches and develop my own understanding of the field.
