M.S. Student

I am a M.S. student in the Department of Earth Sciences working with Dr. Robert Thorson and Dr. William Ouimet. My research at UCONN is in the fields of geoarchaeology, geomorphology, paleolimnology, sedimentology and stratigraphy with a specific focus on the history of the Connecticut River Valley during the Pleistocene-Holocene transition. As my research is interdisciplinary and collaborative in nature, I intend to explore the relationship between human occupation of the Connecticut River Valley through consideration of traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) relative to the drainage history of glacial lake Hitchcock. I am interested in employing remote sensing techniques such as LiDAR analysis alongside geophysical surveys of deltas and sediment dams using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electric resistivity tomography (ERT). I intend to conduct paleolimnology, sedimentology & stratigraphy analyses of sediment cores using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), radiocarbon dating and x-ray fluorescence (XRF).
