Mojtaba (Moji) Fakhraee
Assistant Professor (starting 2025)
As a geochemist, modeler, and data scientist, my research focuses on the connections between the environment and life across Earth’s past, present, and future. My lab’s work combines theoretical frameworks with data analysis and process-based geochemical modeling to develop a mechanistic understanding of the links between elemental biogeochemical cycling, climate, and life. Our research spans a wide array of topics, from investigating the history of atmospheric oxygen and the global carbon cycle in Earth’s past to exploring the impacts of climate change on marine and terrestrial carbon cycles, evaluating potential methods for carbon capture, and addressing the challenges of transitioning to a sustainable energy future.
