Alaska was admitted as the 49th state after the pavilion was built. This specimen possibly links to the ore-bearing mining districts in southern Alaska. This is one of several vein quartz specimens in the collection, weakly suggesting it was collected by the original collector.

Blocky fragment of milky quartz, highly fractured with oxide stain in splaying fractures. Vugs and and apparent mineralization suggests the possibility of an ore-bearing hydrothermal vein. No suggestion of bedding, lamination, or intergrowths.
