- Description
Block (joint face) of well-bedded mud rock (pelitic), either a hard siltstone or coarse shale. Beautifully stained on partings on joint face with oxide blotches and minor concretions. Bedding is in the other orientation, parallel to the line of the wall. It lacks the fissility of shale and the massiveness of most mudstone.
